Part-time Position (minimum of 17.5 hours per week) – Mornings from 8:30am to 12:00pm

Resource Centre Assistant - THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN FORT MCMURRAY

The YMCA is a charitable, mission- based organization dedicated to the development of thousands of people in spirit, mind and body. YMCA Employment Link is a bilingual program (English & French), fully funded by the Alberta Government, which offers employment services to French speaking Canadians and Immigrants.

Our work environment is extremely high paced and very diverse; we welcome over 700 clients per month from over 50 different countries. We excel in offering relevant and up to date labour market information, help with job applications, Resume development, interview preparation and referrals to those seeking to enter the workforce or make a career change. The successful candidate should have outstanding customer service skills and high sensitivity to the needs of populations from diverse cultures and experiencing language barriers.

Salary: Starting at $20/hour

Key Responsibilities:

Resource Centre Assistance:

·         Provide support to clients requesting employment services at the resource Centre

·         Assist clients when using the phone, fax, copier and scanner

·         Assist clients with email and online job applications

·         Assist clients with computer usage related tasks such as : minor changes on their resumes, saving changes and attaching documents to an email or uploading resumes to online job applications

·         Set up clients in the CSTS training system

·         Assist  to update and maintain the Job Board organized on a daily basis

·         Maintain office environment organized, uncluttered and clean

·         Organize, file and maintain paper and electronic records

·         Complete Mobius data entry and government reporting as necessary

·         May assist workshop facilitator with basic computer skills workshop

·         Assist as required with other administrative and customer service related duties

 
Reception Coverage

·         Provide Employment Link’s clients with reception services by welcoming and directing clients, answering the phone and responding to general inquiries

·         Inform clients of upcoming job fairs and relevant labour market information

·         Represent YMCA Employment Link professionally at all times

 

Qualifications:

·         Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

o   Post-Secondary Education in either Career/Employment counselling, human resources, social work, psychology or other related field will be considered an asset

o   Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.

·         Experience

o   Minimum of one year experience in customer service

o   Experience working in a team environment with diverse cultural groups; high needs groups and  populations experiencing language barriers will be considered an asset

·         Knowledge/Skills

o   Superior written and verbal communication skills

o   Fully Bilingual English – French will be considered an asset

o   Excellent Skills in computer applications: MS office suite, researching information on internet and sound knowledge of basic trouble shooting of computers

o   Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment with multiple demands and under stressful conditions

o   Client focused with strong interpersonal skills

o   Demonstrated courtesy and patience when dealing with clients and office staff

o   Effective time management and organizational skills

o   Must have a high level of energy and positive attitude
