YMCA Child Care has the following full time positions available:
Assistant Directors: Early Years and School Aged Care 

The Assistant Program Director is directly accountable to the Program Director, working as a team to meet the operational requirements for the Centre. The Assistant is also accountable to the staff team as a whole, the participants, volunteers, and the public for successful child care delivery. The Assistant works within the context of the YMCA of Edmonton and is accountable to the organization, its members, donors and volunteers.


Salary: $33,313 - $39,463 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Program Director to train, coach, supervise and manage all full-time and part-time staff and volunteers within service areas
  • Performance, management, evaluation and recognition of staff
  •  Commitment to Health and Safety
  • Understand and implement Childcare and YMCA Policies and Procedures including Playing to Learn Program Philosophy
  •  Assume complete responsibility for the entire facility operation in Program Director absence
  • Ensure that the YMCA Child Care Center operates within all Provincial licensing regulations, Health Services regulations, YMCA Policies, Procedures and Accreditation Standards
  • Commitment to Health and Safety
  • Offer excellent customer service to participants, YMCA staff and volunteers


  • Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration
  • Child Care Development Supervisor or Worker Certification
  • Standard First Aid(Child Care First Aid Preferred), CPR Level-C and WHMIS Certification
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.

  • Leadership experience within a Child Care Program

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Openness to trying new instruction methods and techniques
  • Ability to remain calm in a challenging environment
